Well, feed me garlic n call me stinky! This mouth watering piece of brutality booted my head off! Dawn Cano has cooked up a devastating feast of savagery with this short but highly disturbing story of a baby sitter who really needs some sleep and there's only one way that's going to happen! Dawn's debut is absolutely killer in its execution and this is one author who eye am salivating to read more of! The warning that some scenes may be disturbing is one not to be taken lightly, but if you have the stomach for it, you will walk away from this little tale fully satisfied!

The Sisters of Slaughter - Michelle Garza and Melissa Lason - have had several short stories published in various anthologies that have chilled my bones upon reading them and these two offerings, 'Just A Few' & 'Tenants Rights', are every bit as gruesome as was expected! Their attention to gory detail is showcased here in all its blood chilling glory. 'Just A Few' gives us Tom the junkie, who robs the homes of the elderly for their medication when he can't get his fix of smack. His own personal demon (heroin) brings him face to face with a demon of the more tangible, flesh and blood variety and he turns to the most unlikely source for help. The results are oozing with horrific violence and terror! In 'Tenants Rights', a scummy landlord fails to divulge the dark secret of the rundown hovel he rents out to an unsuspecting tenant. When his conscience finally gets the better of him and he tries to warn her, well... it's just a bit too late. Michelle and Melissa are two disturbingly brilliant authors of macabre and brutal horror, and this burnt, bloody offering really made my skin crawl! Highly recommended!

Dawn’s ability as an exceptional author of the extreme Horror variety is undeniable and in this, her second story, Cano has taken it to another level indeed! There is a particular skill in writing short stories that differs from that of writing novels. The author must be able to paint a complete picture in only so many words; a vivid background as well as being able to yank the reader right back into the present situation. Dawn does this with astounding ease and delivers with brutal, unnerving and descriptive clarity. This story dives fearlessly into so many taboo themes it will leave your head spinning. Torture, rape, necrophilia, adultery, physical and mental sickness and more. Add to that some lashings of psychological Horror and this short story stays with you long after you finish reading. Her warning of ‘some scenes may disturb’ is entirely warranted. If you are easily offended or disturbed, then this is not for you. Then again, this is Horror, right? You wouldn’t even be reading these reviews if you weren’t at least morbidly curious. As a writer myself of extreme Horror, the tales that Dawn Cano writes have me salivating for more. There is a bit of a catch cry building and making its way around Facebookland – “Have you read Dawn Cano yet?” Well, have you? At only 99c a pop, eye strongly suggest you do.
The Queen of Bones is one of those books that stay with you long after you finish that final page. My favourite book so far this year, Gregg Zimmerman has effectively destroyed civilisation as we know it with this riveting story. An extremely unlikely hero is presented here in young Sara Hill. She's one tough young woman, there's no denying that, but she is alone, the vulnerable age and gender of a 17 year old girl in a world overrun by lawless, violent "survivors" of the cataclysm which has struck the earth, and to make things more ridiculously hard for her, she is crippled with rheumatoid arthritis. But she has a secret that has kept her alive throughout the reoccurring 'sunthrobs', which assault the earth at regular intervals, killing anyone or anything unfortunate enough to be out in the open when they hit. Her naivete is consistent with that of a teenage girl, but at the same time, her tough 'take no s***' attitude is what gets her through the many trials and tribulations she has to face in her journey. Many times throughout the book, you forget she's just a young girl because the world Gregg has created here has made her grow up fast and way beyond her years. This 'secret', which you will have to discover for yourselves when you read this book, will be her salvation in a lot more ways than one. If you are a fan of dystopian, apocalyptic fiction and you bypass this book, rest assured, you are doing yourself a grave disservice. The Queen Of Bones is a book you NEED to read! Gregg Zimmerman is a powerful voice in the desolate realms of post apocalyptic Horror, and believe me, his is a name you will be hearing a lot more when this becomes a bestseller!

AuthorEye love Horror. Werewolves in particular are my favourite creatures of the night-time world. Eye also love Metal...All types but mostly the darker, more extreme end of the spectrum. My involvement in the Black and Death Metal scene in Australia over the years is what first got me writing, in the form of lyrics for bands eye have been a part of. Now, long overdue, my writing has expanded to include short stories to chill your bones as well as my current baby, The Sacred Blade Of Profanity series, which begins with my debut novella, The Scarlett Curse. http://www.amazon.com/Scarlett-Curse-Sacred-Blade-Profanity/dp/1512323160/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1436116918&sr=8-2&keywords=The+Scarlett+Curse Archives
