AS I LAY
By Toneye Eyenot
As I lay me down to sleep, I allow my soul to lurk and creep,
in landscapes vast and shadows deep, among familiar entities.
As I leave my body, still, and move by power of my will,
a curious force, it beckons me. It wants to taste my energy.
Cautiously, I approach. Sense its presence, feel its touch.
It is pleased with what it "sees". An exchange is invited...I accept.
Energy is drawn from me, returned to me by power of three.
A frugal taste is all it needs. It bursts; it seems, and bleeds into me.
Infernal bliss! I want to stay. My soul is strong, my body frail.
Tho I must return with what I’ve learned, or earned? I cannot say.
Convulsions rack my sleeping body, the spirit has returned to me.
My journey now a vague memory. Where is that power? I cannot "see".
I must go back; take back, the power that was stole from me.
A sneak attack, sprung from the black, I will get back the power that is owed to me.
As I lay me down to sleep, I allow my soul to lurk and creep
and if I die before I wake, never will I leave this place.
My spirit will merge with time and space.
Never to walk this earthly plane again...
